Abstract
This thesis attempts to discuss the female same-sex intimate relationship is how to be a historical construction in the social and legal norms and be marginalized and denial under the heterosexual privilege ideology in Taiwan history.irst, the distinction of male/female became an intrinsic construction in the social and legal norms. In 1905 of the Japanese colonial period in Taiwan, the modern technique of the population census and medical knowledge caused the distinction of male/female to become definite. Moreover, the police system was the most important part to enforce the norms of distinction of male/female. After WWII, the system of registered residence and ID card ascertain everyone is male or female, and try to “correct” the hermaphrodite by surgery. econd, the norm of sex qualified between male and female in the heterosexual ideology. Before 1910s, the sex between female was denial by social and legal norms. After 1910s, the modern sexual science deemed the sex between same-sex is abnormal and need to be “cure”. Afterward, the blaming gays for AIDS surfaced in the early 1980s, but the only concern of sex between male made the sex between female was marginalized. Subsequently, sexual liberation and feminist movement affected the movement of lesbianism. hird, the norm of marriage/family prescribed heterosexual patriarchy to exclude same-sex couples. Marriage/family was the significant unit in sacrifices to ancestors and economical function. After WWII, the norm of marriage/family was unequivocal by law. Because of lack of legal recognition, same-sex couples were more difficult for gaining legal access to these benefits attached to marriage. After 1980s, growing movement by GLBT groups strived to redefined the norm of marriage/family.
