Abstract
Electronic portfolios, or e-portfolios, refer to multimedia environments wherein students can showcase their arte-facts and reflections, which represent their growth and competencies. Fifty-one sophomores from two intact English conversation classes at a Taiwanese university were recruited. Prior to their participation in this study, these students had garnered an average of six years of formal English education. The instruments included e-portfolios, an attitude questionnaire and interviews. First, the e-portfolios students constructed by virtue of the blog publishing system, Wretch, were reviewed and analyzed in their entirety. To respond to this questionnaire, students needed to draw on their e-portfolio experiences and enumerated their opinions on such issues as advantages and disadvantages associated with e-portfolios, difficulties encountered in the process of compiling e-portfolios, comparisons of traditional assessment and e-portfolio assessment, perceived interactions among peers in maintaining e-portfolios, and the like.
