Abstract
On fluorine-18-FDG PET imaging, bronchioloalveolar carcinomas usually have lower FDG uptake than expected for malignant tumors. Thus, bronchioloalveolar carcinoma can be a potential cause of false-negative findings of malignancy on FDG PET scans. When bronchioloalveolar carcinoma is suggested, FDG PET results should be interpreted in combination with high-resolution CT findings or biopsy. We report a case with known bronchioloalveolar carcinoma and a positive CT scan where the FDG PET imaging was negative in this patient.
