Abstract
In recent years, considerable amount of the wireless industry’s effort has been focused on high level integration of the radio systems in CMOS technologies for cost reduction, especially in the Bluetooth and 802.11 WLAN areas. A dual-mode RF transceiver IC implements transmit and receive functions for both Bluetooth and 802.11b WLAN in a single chip without doubling the required silicon area, thus can further reduce the combined system cost.
My research is the development of a dual-mode channel-select filter for use in the dual-mode transceiver. The filter functions are lowpass filter and complex bandpass filter for 802.11b mode and Bluetooth mode respectively. In this Thesis, we will introduce the design of this dual-mode filter architecture and on-chip cutoff frequency tuning mechanism. This dual-mode channel-select filter is implemented in a TSMC 0.25μm 1P5M CMOS process and operates at 2.7V.
