Abstract
In this thesis, circularly polarized patch antennas fed by coplanar waveguide are designed for 60GHz (V-band) WLAN systems. To obtain wider bandwidth, two approaches are investigated. One is to taper the etched shapes on the patch, and the other is to add a series LC matching network to the input end. For verification, they are implemented and measured at 5GHz with FR4 PCB and results show good bandwidth enhancement.
In addition, a CPW-fed coplanar patch antenna is presented. Both linearly polarized and circularly polarized antennas are designed at 10GHz. This structure can also be utilized for V-band applications.
