Abstract
IEEE 802.16 is the standard for broadband wireless communication in metropolitan area networks and is regarded as the technology of the next generation. In the next generation network, VoIP providing packet based telephony service is considered as one of the most popular applications. IEEE 802.16j is an amendment to the IEEE 802.16 standard. It enables RS (Relay Station) to enhance system performance.he detail of scheduling algorithm is left outside of the IEEE 802.16 standard. This thesis proposes a suitable scheduling algorithm for VoIP in the IEEE 802.16j relay network. The proposed opportunistic scheduling algorithm provides fair resource allocation and good voice quality for users. A series of simulation experiments are conducted to investigate the performance of our scheduling algorithm.
