Abstract
Due to the majority of current clinical drugs and
screening technologies target on bio-molecules at
protein level, it thus becomes an important issue to
bridge the gaps between Genomics findings and its
physiological functions. Proteomics emphasizes largescale
research on protein level for detail mechanisms
of diseases, cellular functions, and networks. To
achieve mass parallelism, automation, high throughput,
and minute sample consumption, there are urgent
needs for biochips, which developed by using MEMS
technologies, for protein level research. This new
development will certainly facilitate the finding of new
compounds, new receptors, bio-molecular structure,
and smart biopolymers. In this project, a novel Opto-
BioMorphin system will be the carrier for multiple
optical sensing purposes. Bio-chips based on surface
plasmon resonance (SPR) will be designed and
fabricated to be an integrated part of Opto-
BioMorphin with specifications of materials and
samples that fulfill the requirements of project 3 and 4.
