Abstract
This study aims at analyzing the effects of
trade uncertainty on the domestic and export
markets and the welfare aspects of farmers. An
econometric trade model comprising the concept
of trade uncertainty was established and applied
for empirical study of the banana exports to Japan.
The impacts of trade uncertainty upon prices,
quantities and welfare of the export and domestic
markets was evaluated. Policy implications was
then drawn from the theoretical and empirical
analyses as references for strategic adjustments of
agricultural trade after joining the WTO.
