Abstract
This paper deals with the core concerns in the book "Extensive Divine Meaning of Dao Te Zhen Jing"(道德真經廣聖義) written by Du Guangting. This paper tries to investigate several dimensions of this text: Tao (the ultimate origin)、 Te (the great nature) and breath or vital energy, breath or vital energy and body, body and politics, people and gods. We shall also discuss the ranking and the interaction between sacred and secular orders that is concerned with Taoist religion. This dissertation looks at the internal and external linkages between the body and political governing. Du Guangting, was a leader of both academic and religious spheres towards the end of the Tang dynasty and Five-Dynasties; he also introspectively developed the epistemological with ontological understanding found in this Double-Negation School writing. He academically and religiously upheld the position of Lao-Zi in order to publicize and exalt the philosophy of Taoist school as well as the doctrines of Taoist religion. Several important issues, including the Double-negation discourse, the sage discourse and the governing discourse in this article will also be dealt with. In addition, questions such as 'How Buddhist thought influences double negation thought', 'How the divine differs from and interacts with the secular', 'What the relationship is between the nature of the mind and substance' and 'How body-politics were formalized and changed in this era' will be discussed ,too. The writing of "Extensive Divine Meaning of Dao Te Zhen Jing" reflects the political and religious situation. It also conveys the internal essence of the political discourses of Taoist and Confucian School to Taoist religion. Undoubtedly this writing itself is a part of the process in state formation or building and the result of the dominance of political power in this period of time.
