Abstract
The study is trying to figure out the relationship between the changes of physical or chemical properties of reactant and the conversion of biodiesel calculated by nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum, and offering a reference for on-line monitoring system to estimate the conversion of biodiesel.
Conductivity, pH and transmittancy of reactant was measured continuously during transesterification proceeded at same parameters and environment. The results revealed that transmittancy presents stable logarithm increasing, so it confirmed that using transmittancy as a indicator to estimate the conversion of biodiesel is practicable.
In correlation analyzing, both conversion and transmittancy present stable logarithm increasing, and conversion became stable earlier than transimittancy did. The relationship between conversion and transmittancy can be described by
y=0.125*ln(16900x-6566.5)
where y is the conversion of biodiesel and x is the transimission coefficient of reactant defined within 0.409~0.522. When transimission coefficient is 0.4, the conversion is about 75%; when transimission coefficient is 0.5, the conversion is about 95%. Therefore, the equation can be a reference for on-line monitoring system to estimate the conversion of biodiesel.
