Abstract
A combined spatial analysis and
geographic information system approach was
developed in this study to analyze the
land-use changes in Tao-Yuan terrace. Data
were collected cover from 1982 to 1995, and
classified into four major land-use types for
analysis which including water land,
agricultural land, built-up land and others.
Markov Chain model was used to derive
equilibrium matrices from different land-use
types which showed the tendency of land-use
change.
This research used patch shape and patch
disperse two landscape indices to analyze the
water patches in Tao-Yuan terrace. Finally,
cluster analysis was employed to group 12
towns based on their indices and centroid
locations.
The results showed that the characteristics
of water-patches change reflect the
development of Tao-Yuan terrace, and it may
be helpful in exploring more information
about land-use changes.
