In this study, the micro contact printing was applied to fabricate alternating parallel hydrophobic and hydrophilic stripes of thiol self- assembled monolayer on gold surfaces. If the three-phase contact line normal to the stripe, the three-phase contact line would be affected by the line tension and contorted. The modified Cassie equation was used to compare the theory to our experimental data. Effect of the line tension was carefully examined.
