Abstract
Metal oxides can be applied to several arenas, which include light emitting devices, sensors, photo detectors, electronic and optoelectronic devices, optical components, ceramic industry, etc. The present chapter deals with these materials and their applications in optoelectronic devices specially for display. Various synthesis techniques for preparing metal oxides are discussed. The crystal structure and morphology of synthesized materials are elaborated in the chapter. In the later part of the chapter, the way to prepare metal oxide phosphors and their corresponding discussion are included. Detailed confab on blue, green, and red light emitting phosphors is carried out, and finally, the effect of different color emission on the display application is deliberated.
