Abstract
Three kinds of slot antennas are proposed for dual-polarization, ultra-wideband, and dual-frequency applications in this dissertation. The isosceles triangular slot antenna is introduced in Chapter 2 for broadband dual-polarization applications. The two resonant modes of the antenna are demonstrated. The simulation and measurement results are also presented and discussed. The proposed antenna has wide impedance bandwidth, high isolation, and good radiation characteristics. In Chapter 3, the modified coplanar waveguide-fed bow-tie slot antenna is proposed for ultra-wideband applications. By adding a pair of meandered slot on the ends of the bow-tie slot, the bandwidth of the antenna can be broadened to cover the required bandwidth of the ultra-wideband applications. In Chapter 4, a coplanar waveguide-fed hybrid bow-tie/slot loop antenna and its miniaturized design are proposed for dual-frequency operation. Each of the antennas is composed of a coplanar waveguide-fed bow-tie slot and a slot loop loaded on the end of the bow-tie slot. The two resonant frequencies of the antenna can be controlled nearly independently by the circumference of the slot loop and the side length of the bow-tie slot, respectively.
