Abstract
唐末五代長江流域下游雖然出現大量基層的軍事結合及新的政治秩序，但長期發展的趨勢還是受到長江南北軍事結構與力量差異的制約；只有杭州八都聯盟是一個特例。鄉鎮自衛義軍很難發展成為藩鎮級的大勢力，最後形成五代地域政權的錢鏐和楊行密都具有強大核心集團，前者是杭州八都，後者則是廬州軍人，它們吸收北方或外來軍人後，軍隊較其他勢力為專業化，戰力也較旺盛，因此可以分別征服淮南、江西與浙東的其他勢力。
