Abstract
This project studied the vibration characteristics of a structure with piezo- ceramic sensors and actuators and electronic controller. Vibration characteristics of the coupled electro-mechanical system are manipulated via the piezoceramic actuator and the control electronic circuit. The controller was designed via the transfer function of the structure and the biquad second order filter circuits. The vibration of a beam structure is suppressed by properly tuning the quality factor and gain of the controller to increase the damping of the structure.
We also studied the vibration characteristics of a rectangular beam with piezoceramic sensors and actuator. By feed back the equivalent damping, mass and stiffness via the controller to manipulate the natural frequency of the rectangular beam.
