Abstract
A simple chemical method for the separation of 24-methylenecycloartanol [2] from a mixture of cycloartenol [1] and 2 has been developed. The method consists of five reaction steps: converting the 3-OH into 3-O-tetrahydropyran (3-OTHP), hydroboration of the double bond, mesylation, regeneration of the double bond, and removal of the protecting group. This approach is practical for large scale separation. © 1992, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
