Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy on pain, phsiological responses and psychological perception of burn patients during dressing change. : A quasi-experimental design was used in the study. Sixty adult burn patients were assigned to either experimental or control group. The experimental group received music therapy during dressing change while control group received only routine care. Effectivenss of music therapy was evaluated by vital signs、pain、 somatic symptoms, and psycho-logical perception scales. Data were collected before and after the dressing change. One-way ANCOVA and Scheffe post-hoc comparison were used for data analysis. therapy was effective in decreasing heart rate、 respiration and finger temperature of burn patients during dressing change. It can also decreased pain and somatic symptoms, and improved psych-ological perception of the patients. The systolic and diastolic blood pressure were not affected by the music therapy. beneficial effects for burn patients. It will help to provide a humanistic and artistic care to the patients and can be applied to improve the quality of care for the patients.
