Abstract
The aim of this Research is to prepare the LDPE (low density polyethylene), PU (polyurethane) and UHMWPE fiber composites for improving the mechanical properties of the LDPE/UHMWPE fiber and PU/UHMWPE fiber composites. In the matrix, several types of LDPE and PU are employed to improve the adhesion between the UHMWPE fiber and the matrix.
The LDPE/UHMWPE fiber composites and PU/ UHMWPE fiber composites were prepared by filament winding. The types of impregnation were used in different resin types included solution impregnation and bulk impregnation. Fiber weight content could be calculated by TGA analysis, DSC analysis, and solvent etching. The fiber weight content of the composite is more than 50%. The tensile strength could achieve 598MPa. Crack initiation energy, crack propagation energy, and ductility index (D.I=Ep/Ei) of PU/UHMWPE fiber composites could be obtained by falling weight impact test.
The thermal properties, mechanical properties, and morphology of the different composites were investigated through the TGA measurement and DSC measurement , Tensile strength test ,Falling weight impact test and the scanning electron microscope(SEM), respectively.
