Abstract
Unsteady flow research are important for flooding control and forecast. In this article, shallow-water smooth particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method is conducted to understand the characteristics of unsteady flow. The model is verified by flume experiment. Results show that this algorithm possesses higher precision and applicability, and can accurately capture the lag effect and rating curves of the unsteady flow. The influence of slope, flow rate and the roughness oncharacteristic of hydrograph and rating curves is studied by example analysis.The study finds that it’snegative correlation with slope, and positive correlation with roughness and flow rate.For the sensitivity of each quantity the order from large to small is: slope, flow rate and roughness. Difference of roseand return water level is positive correlation with unsteadiness parameter and flow increment.The result is a good guidance for the considerations of non-steady and water flow calculation in research and engineering application.
