Abstract
A non-electrolytic capacitor (non E-cap) capacitive idling Ćuk (CI Ćuk) type micro-inverter for the photovoltaic (PV) system application is proposed in this thesis. The CI Ćuk is a current-fed converter which can achieve better maximum power point tracking (MPPT) efficiency for the PV system. Besides, the decoupling thin film capacitor is used to deal with the mismatch power between input and output of the CI Ćuk type micro-inverter to improve the reliability and to decrease the low frequency ripple appear on the PV side. Different from the conventional micro-inverter which has a two-stage circuit topology with a large parallel connected capacitor, the proposed CI Ćuk type micro-inverter is a single-stage structure with a small series connected capacitor. It can reduce the required capacitance, lower the transformer turns ratio, and improve the conversion efficiency. Finally, simulation and hardware implementation results verify the feasibility and performance of the proposed non E-cap CI Ćuk type micro-inverter.
