Abstract
A method to determine singular stress fields near a V-notch in an anisotropic plate is presented. The method is based on a new boundary element formulation recently proposed by Wu et al. [J. Appl. Mech. 59, 344-348 (1992)] coupled with path-independent integrals relating the near-tip field to the far field. Numerical examples are given for plates containing a single edge crack, two collinear edge cracks, an internal crack, a single notch, and two symmetric notches under uniform stress.
