Abstract
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was formed in 1989 in response to
the growing interdependence among Asia-Pacific economies. In the beginning,
APEC was regarded as an informal dialogue group with limited participation. Today,
APEC has become the primary regional international economic organization for
promoting open trade and practical economic cooperation.
So many studies of APEC focus on the activities and achievements of the
organization, few of them pay attention to APEC’s structural development and
decision-making process, which will also affect the outcome of the organization and
the policy and willingness of participating economies. APEC is still searching for its
proper identification and status. Therefore, to study the structure and process of
APEC can provide us for further and deeper comprehension about this organization.
This research hope to explore the organization of APEC so as to provide the
academics for deeper understanding for their studies, and to provide policy makers
here with more information for participating future APEC activities.
This research project includes the following discussions:
1. The APEC Way:
2. The APEC Organization:
3. The APEC Change:
4. The APEC Development:
5. Taiwan's Participation in APEC
