The first play, The Real Fake Orphan, was inspired by Zhao's Orphan, a famous Chinese Xiqu based on Shiji (Records of the Historian). The second play, The Mermaid Sacrifice, is an original anti-war script. Both plays are written for Chinese Opera performance. At the end of this collection also conatain the auther's explaination about them.
