Abstract
A new approximation of NRZ maximum likelihood (MAXL) symbol synchroniser is proposed, which is similar to the data transition tracking loop (DTTL) symbol synchroniser but without delay circuit and transition detector and has exactly the same S-curve and noise performance as the DTTL symbol synchroniser.
