Abstract
Nanocomposite hydrogels have been developed with versatile properties and served as emerging biomaterials to address the general clinical problems (e.g., bone healing, cartilage defect, and infection control of the musculoskeletal system) encountered by medical physicians in orthopedics. With superior performance (e.g., mechanical strength, injectability, and biocompatibility), nanocomposite hydrogels play a critical role in improving clinical treatment outcomes. In this chapter, we discuss recent applications of nanocomposite hydrogels in the orthopedic field and summarize the potential therapeutic benefits in unsolved problems.
