Abstract
This study has examined family income distribution and wage distribution and their determinants by applying methods of factor decomposition and regression analysis to micro cross-sectional data of the nonfarm-sector in the colonial era in Taiwan. Our empirical findings reveal that wage earnings dominated family income distribution, personal wage unequally distributed mainly because of the variation of the wage rate, rather than the variation of working hours, and age was the most important determinant of the wage variation.
