Title: | 日本漢和辭書中漢字字義記述之探討 A Study of kanji Literal Description in the Japanese-Chinese Dictionary |
Authors: | 林立萍 | Keywords: | kanji;on;Japanese-Chinese Dictionary;general literal description;kokkun literal description;漢字;音;漢和? This paper mainly aims to examine and verify the connection of the literal description and the “on” (phonetics) of kanji in “Daikangorin” (Daishukan, 1992) through the “on” homologous to “jyoyou kanji” (1981, 1945 words) within the context of “sinbunk kanji” (National Japanese Language Institute, 1976). The study includes: (1) to review on the “on” homologous to “jyoyou kanji” in “shinbun kanji”; (2) to divide kanji into five categories, Morioka 1997, on the ground that the homologue between the “on” and the meaning is different; (3) to verify the literal description(general literal description and kokkun literal description) in “Daikangorin” in the ways that whether the “on” of kanji in “Daikangorin” explains the literal description, and the frequently used “on” stands first in the literal description of the word. It is found that the “on” homologous to the kanji may be a possibly general literal description of the word in the Japanese-Chinese Dictionary, but the possibility is very low, representing less than 5%. Though the percentage of Kokkun literal description is sort of higher, it still takes only 28.86%. The possibility of being the first literal description of the word is even lower, accounting for only about 2%. The percentage of Kokkun literal description takes around 20%. These statistical figures give us a glimpse of the actualities of literal description of kanji in “Daikangorin”. It is believed that the findings can be not only a study on “Daikangorin” but also a significant reference to explain the characteristics of the Japanese linguistic meaning of Hun-unification kanji by referring to “Daikangorin”. |
