Abstract
本研究探討單間隙半穿透半反射液晶顯示器利用邊緣電場效應(Fringe-Field)改善穿透式液晶顯示器與反射式液晶顯示器不良的光電特性。以邊緣電場效應(Fringe-Field)為電場分佈基礎,產生FFS液晶模態,使此研究液晶顯示器具備基本的廣視角以及傑出光效率,再進一步研究與改善間隙半穿透半反射液晶顯示器的結構,使電場分佈改變,以求有所改善不一致的E-O曲線特性;本研究有四種改善方式︰ 1) 改變液晶參數方法克服不一致E-O curve、 2) Top-Bottom TFT electrode LCD(I)、 3) Top-Bottom TFT electrode LCD(II)、 4) Patterned Common electrode LCD design。 由上述四種改善方式進行研究分析當液晶層厚度、電極結構以及使用液晶參數特性改變,對於單間隙液晶顯示器光電特性的影響,觀察影響分佈,既而提供適當改良參考方向。
This thesis studies the methods, which make transflective LCDs electro-optical characters match equally. This thesis uses four topics to deal with the different electro-optical curve. The following is the topics:(1)The method of changing liquid crystal parameters、(2)Top-Bottom TFT electrode LCD(I)、(3)Top-Bottom TFT electrode LCD(II)、and (4)Patterned Common(P.C.) electrode TR LCD design. Those studies base on FFS mode(Fringe-Field Switching) which has high light efficiency、fast response time、and wide viewing angle property. To go a step further, the four topics match transmissive LCDs and reflective LCDs E-O curve. In (1)The method of changing liquid crystal parameters, different pretilt angle is the major method for matching threshold voltage(Vth)which could get more matched E-O curve of T & R part. In (2)Top-Bottom TFT electrode LCD(I)、(3)Top-Bottom TFT electrode LCD(II) and (4)Patterned Common(P.C.) electrode TR LCD design, the three topics take new structure design to get the same transflective LCDs E-O curve. This study is helpful for improving electro-optical characters of transflective LCDs and may be useful to the applications of small size flat-planel display.
