Abstract
The lack of a full -length study of Richard Taverner constitutes a serious
gap in Reformation scholarship. In 1994 A.G.Dickens and W.R.D.Jones
suggested that, after William Tyndale, Richard Taverner was probably the
most rewarding sixteenth-century case-study. It is surprising that the
work remains to be done on Tarverner, but I would like to apply for a
three-year funding programme in order to bridge this gap in
sixteenth-century studies.
