Abstract
As mobile communication services
become popular, information becomes
ubiquitously available wherever we are
located. To achieve high availability for
users in distributed computing systems, fault
tolerant mechanisms are vital for robust
application servers. Also, to provide high
system performance, the issue of resource
management should not be overlooked.
In order to build the mobile computing
system in an efficient manner, we will utilize
one of the popular component technologies
which alleviate developer efforts to build a
complex system from scratch. Among the
component technologies, we plan to compare
pros and cons of COM/DCOM, CORBA,
and JavaBean, and then the issue of possible
support for mobile computing environment
is surveyed. In the sub-project, we will
concentrate on resource management and
fault tolerance issues for mobile computing
systems built by service components. The
primary propose is to analyze the special
features of distributed component object
models for a mobile computing environment
to enhance its performance and reliability.
