The vessel diameter (cm), its area of cross section (cm2), the time average velocity (cc/cm2/ sec) and total volume of blood flow (cc/min) of femoral as well as popliteal arteries were assessed by Doppler ultrasound. The local skin temperature of knee joint was evaluated by a thermometer. After data analysis, the study demonstrated the following The results were: 1.The vessel diameter of femoral or popliteral artery was not significantly different among the three groups, and the area of cross secton was not different, either. 2. The blood flow , both average time velocity and total volume per minute was less in elderly subjects including healthy and osteoarthritic groups. The difference of blood flow was significant between young and aged groups . 3.The difference of blood flow was not significant as the healthy group in compatison with the osteoarthritic groups. 4.There was significant difference between young and aged population in the skin temperature at central patellarpoint. But there was no significant difference between older healthy and osteoarthritic groups.#0322# |
