Abstract
The constructed Taiwan High Speed
Rail (THSR) passes through the Tainan
Science-based Industry Park (TSIP).
According to the analytical predictions made
by the ICEC and NCREE, the ground
vibrations induced by the future operation of
the THSR will exceed the vibration criteria
of the high-tech fabs inside the TSIP.
Therefore, the vibration problem becomes a
very important issue for the development of
the TSIP.
The structure of the fab is usually very
huge and stiff. When the vibrations propagate
from the ground into the fab, the foundation
and structure has the effects to modify the
amplitude as well as the phase of the
vibrations. In order to accurate predict the
influence of the ground vibrations to the
production floor, it has to clarify the effects
of modification by the foundation and
structure.
In order to solve this problem, two
parallel projects are conducted, the numerical
analysis and the in-situ vibration test. The
former, called Project I, is aimed to predict
the ground vibrations induced by the THSR
and to do the soil-structure analysis for the
fab and the foundation soils. The latter,
called Project II, is to conduct the in-situ
vibrational tests to measure the vibratonal
characteristics of the fab structurethe and the
ground, as well as the decay of vibrations
from the ground to the structure.
This project is the Project II. The in-situ
tests were conducted at a Fab inside the TSIP.
The tests include the ambient measurements,
the traffic-induced vibration tests and the
shaker-induced vibration tests. Test results
obtained can be used to deduce the dynamic
characteristics of the fab structure, and the
decay of vibrations from the ground into the
structure. Those information are the key issue
to accurately assess the vibration of the fab
influenced by external excitation sources, and
can be used for the design of the vibration
reduction countermeasures.
