Abstract
In this study, we collected and measured the concentrations of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), vascular
endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF) in the blood and peritoneal drainage
fluid before and after operation. The preoperative concentrations of HGF and VEGF of patients with
hepatocellular carcinoma were significantly higher than those of normal control. HGF and VEGF showed
postoperative surge after hepatectomy. The change of these concentrations were more significant in the drainage
fkuid than that of blood levels. There was no fluctuations of IGF before or after operations. There was no
difference between blood and drainage fluid concentrations either.
