Abstract
In order to determine the normal urodynamic parameters of females in Taiwan, 237 women without voiding complaints were enrolled in this study. The patients aged from 23 to 83 years (mean 51). Cystometry, uroflowmetry, and urethral pressure profilometry were undertaken. The urodynamic findings showed that age did not affect the oxpression of bladder function either in filling or voiding phases. However, a decline in maximal urethral closure pressure was noted as age increased. The average urodynamic parameters in normal Chinese females in Taiwan are: resting pressure 5.8±3.5 cmH2O; first sensation of filling 139±59 ml; frll sensation 321±98 ml; cystometric capacity 356±100 ml; voiding pressure 41±16 cmH2O; maximal flow rate 28.3±9.1 ml/sec; mean flow rate 11.5±6.7 ml/sec; voided volume 319±151 ml; corrected maximal flow rate 1.7±0.9; maximal urethral closure pressure 73±25 cmH2O; functional profile length 2.89±0.3 cm. With these normal data in hands, investigation of female voiding dysfunction became feasible. The results of this study provide us information as to differentiate normal from abnormal urodynamic findings.# 0057 #
