Abstract
Abstract The lower fatty acids cannot be readily separated from water by distillation. Formic acid forms a maximum azeotrope with water, acetic acid boils very close to water and propionic acid forms a minimum azeotrope with water. These acids can be easily separated from water by extractive distillation. Effective agents for each dehydration are presented.
