Abstract
Abstract Suspensions containing various concentrations of settling riverine fine‐grained sediments were equilibrated for 24 hours with externally added copper ions at neutral pH. The concentration of Cu in the water was monitored. Calculation of the slope of the proposed residual curves can provide information on the adsorption capacity of the particles for Cu. A constant practical distribution ratio as well as a strong bound capacity have been derived, and which can be used as characteristic parameters for a natural sediment.
