Abstract
In order to characterize the polarization evolution in a nonplanar ring laser cavity, polarization rotation was analyzed and thermal birefringence was measured. It was found that the optical configuration for linear cavity was arranged to be same as the ring cavity except that the gain medium was located at the cavity center. It was observed that the thermally induced polarization rotation was reduced in the nonplanar ring cavity.
