Abstract
This paper focuses on the functional equivalence of the interconnection networks, which perhaps can be viewed as the semantic of networks. It presents an algebra, via classical concepts of Kronecker product of matrices and perfect shuffle, to describe the functions of various interconnection networks. Since functional equivalence relations express the degree of freedom in making one network behave like the others, some interconnection networks with the same functionality can be obtained even though their topologies are quite different.
