Abstract
Bulk superconductivity with T c (zero) up to 101 K in Tl 0.5 Pb 0.5 (Ca 1- x M x )Sr 2 Cu 2 O y system with M=mischmetal and x =0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 was observed. The powder X-ray diffraction profiles indicate a single phase, P4/mmm tetragonal crystal structure with a =3.80±0.02 Å and c =12.05±0.02 Å for Tl 0.5 Pb 0.5 (Ca 1- x M x )Sr 2 Cu 2 O y compounds. T c (zero)'s were found to be 78, 91, 101, 98, and 87 K for x =0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 respectively. The sample of Tl 0.5 Pb 0.5 (Ca 0.9 M 0.1 )Sr 2 Cu 2 O y was found to be the most homogeneous both in composition and structure. Meissner signal of this sample indicates the T c onset around 100 K and mass diamagnetic susceptibility - χ g at 10 K is 1.3×10 -3 emu/g·G (field-cooled at 100 G).
