Abstract
This paper proposes a regulated perturb and observe algorithm to realize the maximum power point tracking of renewable energy systems. This algorithm can improve disadvantages of the conventional perturb and observe algorithm, such as power loss at the maximum power point and the longer tracking time, by sensing variations of power and voltage of renewable energy systems to adjust the perturbation step and frequency. A 1kW full-bridge converter controlled by a microcontroller (dsPIC30F2020) was implemented to realize the functions of the maximum power point tracking.
