dc.description.abstract | The progression of immunosuppression-associated type Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) is thought to be related to the immunocompromised status. We herein describe a case, who had a quiescent initial lesion of KS developed in the sixth month after receiving immunosuppressive therapy for treating the refractory bullous pemphigoid. The activity of KS increased abruptly during a period of lymphocytopenia. Subsequent analysis showed CD4+ lymphocytopenia and negative anti-HIV antibody. While the dosage of corticosteroid was tapered, intralesional interferon-α2b injection was given as adjuvant therapy. The injected lesions gradually became less painful with obvious necrotic appearance. Cryotherapy and fractional radiotherapy were administered additionally and on the sixth-month of follow-up, it was observed that the majority of KS lesions had regressed. | - |
