Abstract
The flexibility of TLD (tuned-liquid damper) to a high-rise building is studied based upon the results from a simple experiment and some comparisons. A simple pendulum-like model test is employed in order to simulate the long-period motion of a high-rise building. Both the free- and harmonic-vibrational tests are carried out to see the effectiveness to TLD to the vibrational control. Comparisons of these experimental results with the analytical results of an optimal TMD system and an improved distributed TMD system are included for discussion. © 1995.
