dc.description.abstract | Salivary uric acid is regarded as a noninvasive biomarker of metabolic syndrome and renal disorder. Although many enzyme based assays have been developed for quantitation of uric acids, most of the biological reagents are only stable for 30 days after opening even stored at 2-8 °C. To overcome this short-lasting problem, long-lasting (more than two years), easily stored and cost-effective nonenzymatic C-dots prepared from PEI through a simple hydrothermal method were developed. Experimental results reveal that the sensitivity of the PEI C-dot assay for uric acid is higher than that of reported fluorescece and enzyme based sensors. Copyright ?
