Issue Date: | 5-May-2016 | Source: | Rethinking Social Capital and Entrepreneurship in Greater China: Is Guanxi Still Important? | Abstract: | Introduction The development of postsocialist China has been partly facilitated by overseas investment (Pan 2003), including investment from Taiwanese firms. Despite longterm political hostility across the Taiwan Strait, the two sides have undergone a significant economic integration since China opened up its economy in the 1980s. Today, between two and three million Taiwanese are thought to live full-time in China, with a particular concentration in the Yangtze River Delta (Wang and Lee 2007; Yang and Hsia 2007; Wei et al. 2009). |
