dc.description.abstract | One hundred and twenty-six patients with cervical carcinoma were screened for circulating autoantibodies including antinuclear antibody (ANA), smooth muscle antibody (SMA), antitubular basement membrane antibody (TMBA), mitochondrial antibody (MTA) and gastric parietal cell antibody (GPA); serum immunoglobulins were also determined. Two patients with cervical carcinoma were found to have autoantibodies, one with GPA and the other with TMBA. No increased incidence of autoantibodies was found in cervical carcinoma. Serum IgG was decreased in stages 0 (P<0.02) 1 and 2 (both P>0.05), but increased in stages 3 and 4 (both P>0.05). Serum Igm was increased in stages 0, 1, (all P>0.05) and 3 (P<0.05), but decreased in stage 4 (P>0.05). Taking into account the age factor, the inrease of IgM in stage 3 was still significant statistically. Serum Iga was unchanged or slightly increased in stages 0, 1 and 2, but increased in stages 3 (P>0.05) and especially 4 (P<0.01). The high IgG and IgA levels may reflect the advanced stage of cervical cancer, and their clinical implication is discussed. | en_US |
