Abstract
This work has examined the feasibility of using Voronoi polyhedron (VP) in describing the microstructure of a simulated packed bed with controlled disorderness. A transition in microstructure among the regularly packed (crystal-like) and randomly packed (liquid-like) states was detected over a wide range of the critical contact angles among particles. The mean asphericity and the entropy function of VP volume were noted as adequate indices for parking characteristics of the packed bed. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
