Abstract
The main purpose of the present study is to analyze the impact of the
international migration between Taiwan and other Asia neighbor countries and
areas on Taiwan and the policy implications. Before analyzing the impact and
discussing the policy implications of four international migration dimensions or
patterns, demographic characteristics of each type of international migration
based on the findings in author’s previous related studies have been
summarized. The discussion on policy implications focuses on policy
adjustment directions.
Four selected international migration dimensions or patterns in author’s
previous studies are: (1) working population of Southeast countries in Taiwan;
(2) migrants of Mainland China to visit and depend on their relatives in Taiwan;
(3) Taiwan businessmen migrants in Mainland China; (4) Taiwan visitors,
tourists and emigrants to foreign countries.
Available data for the present study is employed from findings in author’s
related previous studies, existing references, government documents, and
interviewing results with related government officers and migrants. Both
