National Taiwan University Graduate Institute of Taiwan Literature now provides master and doctoral degree program. This Institute founded in 1990s, due to response the waves of re-discovering Taiwan history, literature and culture. Despite the local research, we also pay attention to compare research between Taiwan and other states /place. Through the two main paths: local and global, we intent to have a foothold on Taiwan/ East Asia, and have conversations with the world, to promote Taiwan literature to the world. The research area of our faculty, including classical Taiwan literature, Japanese period literature, Taiwan folk literature, aboriginal literature, modern literature, Taiwanese linguistics, and have achieved lots of achievements. We're now focusing on the culture exchange and the knowledge production in Asia-Pacific area recently. As a result, the Institute has cooperation at home and abroad, such as Academia Sinica, the National Museum of Taiwanese Literature, University of London, University of Tokyo, The University of Texas at Austin, University of Malaya, Dongguk University, etc. Through different points of views, we can expand the research and thinking area of Taiwan literature.
