About us
“Child abuse” has becoming an issue of concern in Taiwan. In 2017, about 50 thousand of suspected cases that related to mistreatment of children/adolescents were reported to the authorities. In average, one child/adolescent would be reported in every 8 minutes. Among these cases, about 10 thousand cases would be investigated or intervened by the authorities concerned. The causes of each child abuse event were complicated and relevant to family socioeconomic status, children’s development, mental problems or parenting issue, and etc,. Without the proper intervention, the increasing pressures on the caregivers could gradually deteriorate the situations and eventually result in repeated mistreatment. The abused children/adolescents were not only suffered from physical harms and poor growing environment but also psychological trauma that would long lasting in every perspective of their lives. Due to the heavy demand of medical and psychological treatments from these subjects and their family, National Taiwan University Hospital had officially established “Child Protection Center” organizing multidisciplinary professions to provide suitable treatments and comprehensive evaluations to these children.
